How It Differs from Commissioning or CertificationWhile the Diploma reflects a complete and valuable level of biblical discipleship and soul-care training, it does not include formal testing or counseling supervision. It is not a “lesser” credential—it is foundational.
Many who earn this diploma go on to pursue Commissioning or Certification, but others find that the diploma fully meets the needs of their call to serve.

- A strong theological foundation for biblical soul-care
- Increased skill in personal discipleship and relational ministry
- Tools to care wisely and compassionately for people facing a variety of life struggles
- Readiness to serve faithfully in local church contexts and counseling ministries
Program RequirementsEducational Requirements:
- Completion of TILBC Level I coursework
- Modules 1–6: Foundations, Core Competencies, Hermeneutics, Worldviews, Whole-Person Ministry, Freedom in Christ
- Modules 1–6: Foundations, Core Competencies, Hermeneutics, Worldviews, Whole-Person Ministry, Freedom in Christ
- Actively involved in a local Christian fellowship
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing spiritual growth and wise, biblical one-anothering
- Endorsement by your pastor or elder (or equivalent ministry leader)
- Submission of the Diploma Application
- Background check and child safety training
- Commitment to ongoing learning through participation in TILBC events (see Continuing Ed expectations below)
Ongoing Commitments
To maintain active standing:
- Attend at least two (2) TILBC Team Connects per calendar year
- Attend one (1) in-person training every four (4) years
- Continue actively discipling and serving in your church or ministry context

- Build a strong foundation in discipleship and biblical one-another care principles
- Learn to apply God’s Word accurately and wisely to life’s problems
- Gain confidence in coming alongside others with grace and truth
- Grow in discernment, spiritual maturity, and biblical communication
- Be prepared to serve faithfully in their homes, churches, and communities
Note: No exams or supervision are required for this credential, though both are available for those continuing on to Commissioned or Certified credentials.
