Diploma in Discipleship & Soul-Care
A foundational credential for those growing in biblical discipleship and one-another ministry.

Who Is This For?
The Diploma in Discipleship & Soul-Care is ideal for any believer who desires to grow in biblical wisdom and practical effectiveness in caring for others. Whether you're a small group leader, ministry volunteer, church staff member, or simply committed to one-anothering in your everyday relationships, this track will ground and grow you.

What You’ll Gain
  • A strong theological foundation for biblical soul-care
  • Increased skill in personal discipleship and relational ministry
  • Tools to care wisely and compassionately for people facing a variety of life struggles
  • Readiness to serve faithfully in local church contexts and counseling ministries

Program RequirementsEducational Requirements:
  • Completion of TILBC Level I coursework
    • Modules 1–6: Foundations, Core Competencies, Hermeneutics, Worldviews, Whole-Person Ministry, Freedom in Christ
Personal and Church Life:
  • Actively involved in a local Christian fellowship
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing spiritual growth and wise, biblical one-anothering
  • Endorsement by your pastor or elder (or equivalent ministry leader)
Other Requirements:
  • Submission of the Diploma Application
  • Background check and child safety training
  • Commitment to ongoing learning through participation in TILBC events (see Continuing Ed expectations below)

Ongoing Commitments
To maintain active standing:
  • Attend at least two (2) TILBC Team Connects per calendar year
  • Attend one (1) in-person training every four (4) years
  • Continue actively discipling and serving in your church or ministry context

How It Differs from Commissioning or CertificationWhile the Diploma reflects a complete and valuable level of biblical discipleship and soul-care training, it does not include formal testing or counseling supervision. It is not a “lesser” credential—it is foundational.

Many who earn this diploma go on to pursue Commissioning or Certification, but others find that the diploma fully meets the needs of their call to serve.

Those who pursue the Diploma will:
  • Build a strong foundation in discipleship and biblical one-another care principles
  • Learn to apply God’s Word accurately and wisely to life’s problems
  • Gain confidence in coming alongside others with grace and truth
  • Grow in discernment, spiritual maturity, and biblical communication
  • Be prepared to serve faithfully in their homes, churches, and communities

Note: No exams or supervision are required for this credential, though both are available for those continuing on to Commissioned or Certified credentials.
